Zamaneh has been informed that Farzad Sadri, editor-in-chief of the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) in Fars region, ISNA photographer Hakhamanesh Younesi and two ISNA reporters, Saeed Nazari and Ali Nezamolmolki were taken into custody.
The arrests occurred last week but due to security pressures and threats to their families, the news was kept quiet until now.
The Jaras opposition website reports that other reporters have also been arrested in Shiraz, but their families do not wish to announce their names.
The detainees have been reportedly transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Shiraz.
Farzad Sadri, the detained ISNA editor-in-chief, was a reformist candidate in city council elections.
In the past few days, another group of journalists was arrested in Tehran. In addition, Hamid Mozeni, a Bushehr journalist and writer, was arrested in the southern city. He was a supporter of reformist candidate Mehdi Karroubi in the 2009 presidential election.
