Four men convicted of gang rape in Khomeinishahr in Iran's central Isfahan province were hanged in public on Wednesday. The men, aged 20 to 25, were part of a group of 15 who had been charged with breaking into a private orchard in June of this year and raping the women after abducting them.
The news of the rape made headlines across the country, and in the face of widespread concern over diminishing public safety, the head of the judiciary announced that the culprits in the Khomeinishahr case would be dealt with firmly and speedily.
