Washington -- As part of its first annual Leadership Conference last week, NIAC hosted an off the record panel for conference attendees featuring key leaders in the academic and political spheres in the United States and Europe working on Iran-U.S. foreign policy issues.
Entitled "U.S.-Iran Relations: Opportunities and Set Backs from the Washington insider's Perspective," the panel discussion was moderated by NIAC President Trita Parsi, and featured Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran Ambassador John Limbert; VOA Persian News Network Director Ramin Asgard; Dr. Jim Walsh of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Security Studies Program; and Rouzbeh Parsi of the European Union Institute for Security Studies.
Taking a broad look at 30 years of the United States' relationship with Iran, the panelists provided their perspectives and answered audience questions regarding the state of diplomacy with Iran, policy objectives regarding Iran's nuclear program, opportunities for progress on the human rights issue, and other key areas of interest regarding U.S.-Iran policy.
