Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC), Hossein Bidarmaghz, says China wants to import gas from Iran.
Bidarmaghz said China's gas and LNG markets' needs would equal Europe's consumption by end of 2030, prompting it to turn to Iran, whose relative advantage over its rivals, Qatar and Russia, is its situation between two big gas consumption markets, i.e. China and Europe.
On the other hand, said the official, India will in the future turn into biggest gas consumption in Asia.
He said one of the strategies for Iran gas exports to China is continuation of the exports pipelines to the country from Pakistan.
The issue will be discussed in the future visit of Iranian delegation to Chine, he added.
On talks with the Persian Gulf states over gas, Bidarmaghz said the countries, that are rich in energy resources, would no longer be able to export gas based on the international markets' estimations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bidarmaghz said gas production and consumption now equal in the UAE and it meets parts of its energy needs from Qatar in the pipeline and LNG forms, preferring to purchase gas from Iran. Two negotiating teams from the UAE, representing two different sources, travelled Iran to this end over the past two months, he added.
The only issue on table for talks with the UAE party is the price for the gas exports, said Bidarmaghz, adding that Iran has provided the UAE party with its exported gas formula and its companies are to inform Tehran of the result by next few months.
Iran has also presented its technical and economic proposals on gas exports to Bahrain and Kuwait, waiting their response, he added.
