Bandar Abbas - Almaty train was launched in a ceremony with presence of high ranking authorities from Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states and international organizations on October 17 in Iran.

The project and regular activation of the corridor is one of the most important transport projects in the ECO region and it is much emphasized by UNESCAP.
By this train, Almaty is connected through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to Iran and then to Persian Gulf countries and southeastern Asia.
Total length of the corridor is 3756 km and it estimated that about 150 hours and 12 minutes (6 days and half) to take for the train to travel on the corridor.
This route can become the most important corridor for export-import and transit in the Central Asia.
