Iran defeated Indonesia in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Asia's Group E courtesy of two goals from captain Javad Nekounam and one from substitute Andranik Teymourian on Friday.
In the match, which was held at Tehran's Azadi Stadium in front of about 70,000 fans, the Iranian outfit put down Indonesia 3-0.
Iran dominated much of the game in the first half but its strikers failed to take advantage of their chances.
But finally, Nekounam put the ball in the back of the net with a header in the 53rd minute.
He scored once again in the 73rd minute, heading the ball past the Indonesian keeper.
Teymourian scored Iran's third goal from a shot inside the penalty box with three minutes remaining.
Iran will take on Qatar in Doha on September 6 while Indonesia will host Bahrain in their next Group E matche.
