Five terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda have been arrested in the southeastern province of Kerman, Kerman Police Chief Hossein Chenarian announced on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
Speaking to reporters, Chenarian said, "These people were apprehended during the past two weeks."
He added that two of the people arrested do not have Iranian nationality.
The Iranian intelligence forces seized weapons, ammunition, and documents, some of which described plans for future attacks on Iran, Chenarian stated.
He also said that given the importance of the case, it has been transferred to the country's intelligence agency.
Through the clues provided by the arrestees, some explosives, weapons, and ammunition were seized in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
