The Islamic Republic of Iran's mission in the UN rejected reports that Ahmadinejad would have dinner with Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger during his upcoming trip to New York.

The statement came whereas some press reports said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is going to have meeting with Columbia University President.
"No special plan is scheduled for Columbia University," the statement said.
"Iranian President meets people interested in talks with him every year as he travels to New York for the UN General Assembly meeting. Ahmadinejad also used to meet American students as well."

The UN General Assembly started the 66th session Tuesday, with its outgoing president reported progress on a number of development-related issues and highlighted need for the United Nations to do more to respond to the real concerns of people worldwide.
The 66th session of the General Assembly was presided over by the incoming president, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser of Qatar.
Development-related topics, including AIDS and youth, were highlighted throughout the year, as well as issues such as the green economy and sustainable development. The Assembly also took up the plight of Haiti and the crisis in Cote d'Ivoire, and admitted the newly independent nation of South Sudan as its 193rd member.
