Art and culture aficionados gathered in the northern Iranian city of Gorgan in Golestan Province on Tuesday to celebrate the opening ceremony of the 5th Culture Festival of Iranian Tribes.
Foreign ambassadors of Persian-speaking countries also took part in the ceremony where different tribes are displaying their varieties of art, director of Golestan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts department Qorban Abbasi said on Tuesday.
The variety of tribes and their interests demonstrate the diversity of culture within the Iranian nation, he added.
He also said that the festival gives an excellent chance to study the social, cultural and economical potentials of each province and help introduce regional cultures.
Over 140 Iranian artisans along with foreign artists from neighboring countries of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Armenia are displaying their variety of arts.
Provincial handicrafts, souvenirs and tourism attractions of each province are put on show at the festival that is running until September 30.
Traditional bands coming from different provinces are also giving performances during the event.
