Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced on Sunday that his country will buy 1,100 MW of electricity from Iran.

In a meeting with Iranian Vice President MohammadJavad Mohammadizadeh in China, Gilani also expressed interest in buying oil and gas from Iran, Dawn News reports.

Gilani announced that the electricity will be used to meet power needs in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan.

According to the Pakistani President: "Pakistan wants cordial relations with all of its neighbours" and will cooperate with efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan.

He once again announced that his government regards Jundallah as a terrorist group.

The militant group Jundallah, which claims to fight for the rights of Sunni minorities in southeastern Iran, has been engaged in armed conflicts with the Islamic Republic for many years, which has caused some tension between Iran and Pakistan. Iran has at times accused Pakistan of lending support to this group.
