Iran Says Turkey To Host Nuclear Talks

Source: RFE/RL

Iranian state media say a new round of talks on Tehran's disputed nuclear program will take place in Turkey next week.

Iran's official English-language Press TV said the negotiations on April 13 would take place in Istanbul, where Iranian officials will meet representatives from the P5+1 group, which comprises the member states of the UN Security Council -- the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China -- and Germany.

The announcement has not yet been confirmed by those countries.

Iranian and Western officials had earlier released conflicting statements about the venue for the talks, raising doubts over whether the negotiations would happen at all.

Tehran has denied Western allegations that it plans to build nuclear weapons, insisting its uranium-enriching facilities are for civilian purposes only.
