Christopher de Bellaigue is a journalist who has written for many publications, including the Economist, the Financial Times and the New York Review of Books. A British national, he lived in Iran for seven years and is married to an Iranian artist. His first book, In the Rose Garden of Martyrs, published in 2005, was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature's Ondaatje Prize, and his second, Rebel Land, for the Orwell Prize for political writing.
