Source: Stand With Ross
Dear Friends of Ross,
After more than five months of legal and political wrangling, a politically-motivated criminal prosecution, personal smears, innuendo and millions of taxpayer dollars wasted, the Ethics Commission is poised to make a decision on the fate of our duly elected sheriff this Thursday, August 16, 2012 beginning at 9:00 AM. Please join us to show your support for Ross Mirkarimi at the hearing and then for a noon rally to Stand With Ross on the Polk Street side of City Hall.
Following the rally, you will have a chance to let the Ethics Commission know exactly how you feel about the mayor's unprecedented attempt to usurp the will of the people in order to consolidate his power. Let them know that there is only one issue and that issue is not should Ross continue to be Sheriff, it is not did he bruise his wife's arm, it is not can he effectively serve as Sheriff - it is only did he commit official misconduct by grabbing his wife's arm - and the answer to that question is a resounding no!!!
To the contrary, Sheriff Mirkarimi set a powerful positive example to anyone of us who has struggled with familial conflict and the attendant interpersonal issues that all couples face by admitting his part, and apologizing and accepting responsibility for his actions and shortcomings. As San Franciscans, we should acknowledge and support his willingness to change - not subject him to draconian punitive measures that do nothing to help him and his family, but rather hurt our city as a whole.
We are not alone in this fight. Organizations such as the Bernal Heights Democratic Club, Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, National Lawyers Guild, San Francisco Green Party, Central City Democrats, Latino Democratic Club, District Five Democratic Club, League of Pissed Off Voters, Church Women United, Collation of Labor Woman United, Padres Unidos, and San Francisco Arts Democratic Club as well as many others have passed resolutions demanding that the mayor reinstate our sheriff. With your help and the help of these organizations, this unprecedented multimillion dollar fiasco will come to an end. So please come and Stand with Ross this Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 9:00 AM in City Hall room 263.

Guardian editorial: The real Mirkarimi question
Ed Lee now the bully in Mirkarimi case
See you this Thursday at 9:00 AM at City Hall to let Mr. Lee know that we are NOT going to sit back quietly and watch him apply one back-breaking strategy after another: Suspending Ross without pay (without any due process rights), incapacitating him from providing for his family, and then not allow him to see his family after repeated requests by his wife, Eliana Lopez, and son; and despite the objections of Eliana, the shameless leak of the video by the Mayor and City Attorney to compound negative media attention, the unabashed submission of Ivory Madison's fabricated declaration and then the Mayor's alleged perjury. Please remember that we are there to support Ross and we need to show a certain level of professional decorum - as others will judge our Sheriff by our actions.
We need you to make sure the will of the people is not usurped by Mayor Lee!
Here's how you can help.
Write letters to the editors of local publications expressing your point of view about Ed Lee removing the person you voted for to serve as Sheriff. Be firm, respectful and brief - no more than 200 words. Always include your real name, city of residence, and phone number where you can be reached during the day (most publications will call to verify that you wrote the letter before they'll publish it). Click on the publication of your choice:
