Source: Radio Zamaneh

The Iranian ambassador to Libya has announced that the "abducted relief workers are in perfect health" and efforts to release them are still underway.

Seven Iranian Red Crescent aid workers were abducted two weeks ago in Benghazi, and Libyan officials soon after reported that their release was imminent, but so far the Iranians have not been released, and no information has emerged regarding their abductors or their motives.

On August 16, Hossein Akbari, the Iranian ambassador to Libya, was hopeful that the relief workers would soon be released.

The Iranian relief workers, who had been invited by the Libyan Red Crescent, arrived in Benghazi on July 29 and, after visiting at the Red Crescent offices, they were kidnapped on the way to their hotels by an unidentified armed group.

According to the head of Iran's Red Crescent, the kidnappers have not announced any clear conditions for the release of the abducted Iranians.
