Niyayesh city road tunnel (10252m) designed to cut down the traffic jams in the Tehran metropolis, is the second-longest under-construction city-road tunnel in the world in 2012 after China's Baotashan city road tunnel (10480m).
The construction of Niyayesh tunnel began on March 2010 and is scheduled to be completed until February 10, 2013 coincided with the 34th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Niayesh Tunnel consists of two, three-lanes tubes (one-way traffic in each bore). This tunnel is the longest urban tunnel in Middle East and including big Bifurcations with 30 meters width.
