"Kahrizak: Four Views", a four-episode documentary on a charity center, has won the special jury prize at the 9th Dubai International Film Festival.
The prize was presented to the film for the two episodes directed by Mohsen Amiryusefi and Piruz Kalantari, organizers announced on Sunday.
Two other episodes were directed by Bahman Kiarostami and Rakhshan Bani-Etemad.
Four directors of different ages and levels of experience, each present a view of the Kahrizak Charity Centre, introducing us to fascinating characters and rituals, and a reflection on life and death itself. Presented in episodes, we are introduced to the situation of the elderly; a blind and disabled man without hands and legs, who performs Hamlet; and the Centre's Feast of Sacrifice.
"Taboor" directed by Vahid Vakilifar and "Ziba" by Bani Khoshnudi were the other Iranian films, which were screened during the event.
Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya was among the jury members of the eight-day festival.
A total of 83 films competed for over $575,000 in prize money in three categories - Muhr Emirati, Muhr Arab and Muhr Asia Africa in the festival.
