Chitgar Lake is being built next to Chitgar Park and will have a volume of between 9.5 and 11 million cubic meters. According to the master plan of the 22nd district of Tehran, the area of the whole lake and the surrounding ground covers 330 hectares and the lake itself has an area of 220 hectares.

It is said that Chitgar will be the biggest artificial lake in the Middle East. Also, luxury apartment complexes are being built next to the lake.

According to the website of the 22nd region of the Municipality of Tehran, about 80% of the needed water will be provided from the Kan River in the west of Tehran and the remaining 20% will come from the sub-surface waters. Many questions have been raised about the environmental impacts of building the lake. Environmental activists believe that by building the lake, 6 to 7 millions cubic meters of water will be evaporated annually and that is too much for a city that has limited water supply.

Chitgar Forest Park is situated in Tehran province, Iran. It is an artificial forest and covers an area of 14.5 square kilometers west of Tehran. It lies within the borders of Tehran's district 22. It also has different ramps and facilities for cycling and skating. It is one of the largest parks of the province, and can be used throughout the year. This park is very popular with the population of the Tehran and Karaj and being situated on the way of the West-East wind in the province it has a purifying effect on Tehran's air. Chitgar park is served by a highway and a metro line. The forest areas of this huge park are irrigated by the rivers Kan and Vardavard. The artificial lake is located between the two Chitgar hills.
