Iranian director Arvand Dashtarai plans to stage an adaptation of Georges Remi's "The Adventures of Tintin" in Tehran in February. The play entitled "Tintin and the Secret of Moundas Castle" will be performed at the Iranian Artists Forum's Iranhshar Hall, the forum announced on Wednesday.

Iranian dramaturge and dramatist Mohammad Charmshir has written the play based on "The Adventures of Tintin" collection written by the Belgian artist Georges Remi -- Herge.

"I was interested in the Tintin books since I was a little boy. All of his adventures and curiosity have had a great influence on me, and I wanted to pay my debt of gratitude to Herge," Dashtarai said in an interview.

He said that Charmshir's play is a new story about Tintin. He wrote it based on the 24 volumes of "The Adventures of Tintin".

Saeid Changizian, Hassan Majuni, Kazem Sayyahi, and Sahar Dolatshahi will star in the play.

Tintin is a young reporter who is drawn into dangerous international intrigues in which his quick thinking, bravery and chronic good luck save the day.

"The Adventures of Tintin" is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, with translations published in more than 50 languages. More than 200 million copies of the books have been sold to date.
