Iran Football Coach Shortlisted for New York Red Bulls Job: Report

Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz is a candidate to take charge of New York Red Bulls, MLS Soccer reported.

New York Red Bulls still does not have a head coach after the team's long-rumored No. 1 target, Gary McAllister, is asking for more money than the Red Bulls is willing to offer.

Red Bulls has shortlisted some coaches for the vacant seat, including former Real Madrid and Iran coach Carlos Queiroz. The Portuguese has already coached MetroStars in 1996 season.

Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Iran football coach in April 2011 on a three-year deal.

Former Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle is also a candidate to take charge of the team.

Yahya Golmohammadi appointed Persepolis coach

Yahya Golmohammadi was officially appointed as head coach of Persepolis football team on Thursday.

Persepolis terminated the contract with Portuguese coach Manuel Jose following the Tehran-based team's poor results in the Iran Professional League.

Golmohammadi, 41, joined Persepolis in September as the first assistant coach.

"We need time to improve. Persepolis has changed its style in the last two matches. Now, we have to concentrate on Sepasi match, scheduled for Sunday," the newly-appointed Persepolis coach said.

Persepolis is 13th in Iran Professional League standing table with 22 points after 18 games.
