Iran tests latest missiles in drills near Strait of Hormuz

As the Velayat 91 drills continued in southern Iran, new missiles and torpedoes developed by Iranian experts were successfully tested today. On the fourth day of the Velayat 91 drills, short-range Nasr Cruise missile successfully has been fired and hit the target.

The cruise missile capable of destroying 3,000-ton watercrafts belongs to the short-range class and is capable of launching from land and on board watercraft. In the future the capability to fire from on board helicopter and submarine will be added.

Deployed on shore defensive layers, Nasr smart cruise missile will complement coastal defense artillery system, as it would destroy watercrafts invading the coastal waters of the IRI.

On Monday morning, Islamic Republic Army Navy launched its new missile 'Ra'ad' and torpedoes which successfully hit the targets. In addition, missiles and torpedoes, a strategic class of arms, were fired successfully from submarine watercrafts of the Naval Force and destroyed real targets.

The torpedoes, produced by local expert knowledge of Iran, have high destructive capabilities, their high amount of explosives damaging the driving system of the targeted watercraft and bringing about craft sinking.

Today, 'Ra'ad', the latest surface-to-air missile of the IRI Army, optimized and installed on warship by Iranian experts at IRI Army Office for Research and Self-Reliance Jihad, was successfully launched.
