An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted the village of Kilan of Damavand district in eastern Tehran province on Friday, Head of Rescue Team Operation of Iran's Red Crescent Society, Mahmoud Mozaffar said.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 12:30 hours local time (09:30 GMT).
There were no reports of any casualty or damage to the property caused by the quake.
Kilan village in Damavand is located 86 kilometers to the east of Tehran.
Iran sits on several major faults in the earth's crust, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
