Technological and scientific Undersecretary of Iran's President, Nasrin Soltankhah said the country would launch National Computing Grid by March 20. Soltankhah Told ISNA Iran would launch the national computing grid through connection of computing grid centers.
She referred to the launching of "Amir Kabir" grid computing center at Amir Kabir University and "Sheikh Bahaei" grid computing center in Isfahan University, adding 9 super computers in 9 research centers and Universities particularly in Shiraz, eastern and western Azerbaijan and Tehran would be launched.
Soltankhah noted side stations which enjoy the power to process up to 3 teraflops would be connected to Amir Kabir and Sheikh Bahaei major super computers.
She pointed out two super computers of Amir Kabir and Isfahan Universities are amongst the 500 super computers across the world and their existence would remove the country's industrial needs.
She added Iran would join to the list of countries possessing ultra-fast computers, referring to the performance of the computers in different fields including defense ministry, meteorology and risky research projects.
She noted the super computers can be used in simulation of propulsion systems to simulate medicine delivery to body cells.
She added they can also be used in research programs which need complicated computations.
