"A Separation" wins France's Cesar Award

Asghar Farhadi's A Separation has won the Cesar Award for Best Foreign Film as selected by members of France's Academie des arts et techniques du cinema.

"A Separation" Has Received Two Oscar Nominations

The winners were announced last night at a ceremony in Paris, just two days before the Oscar ceremonies, where A Separation is up for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Screenplay.

A Separation won the Cesar against Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, Lars Von Trier'sMelancholia, Denis Villeneuve's Incendies and Tom Hooper's The King's Speech.

The Artist swept the Cesar Awards this year, winning in six categories, including Best Film and Best Director.

The Best Documentary Cesar went to Christian Rouaud's Tous au Larzac, and Best Animated Film was given to Joann Sfar and Antoine Delesvaux for The Rabbi's Cat.

Farhadi's film A Separation, which has become the most successful film in the history of Iranian cinema, has won numerous international awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Berlin's Golden Bear Award, which honours the year's best film.
