LOS ANGELES, CA, July 18, 2012 - Farhang Foundation's 2013 Nowruz Banner Contest has officially been announced, calling on graphic designers and artists to submit original design concepts for Farhang's 5th Annual Nowruz (Iranian New Year) Celebration, taking place on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
This is the third year that we are sharing this opportunity with artists globally who wish to participate in this grand celebration; past winners have included Nasrin Beyraghdar of Irvine, CA and Navid Ghaem Maghami of San Francisco, CA.
Contestants will compete for the opportunity to receive recognition on Farhang's website and global PR campaigns; and their design may be featured on light pole banners on display along Westwood Blvd, Wilshire Corridor, Ventura Blvd. and other areas throughout Los Angeles during March 2013, in promotion of Farhang Foundation's Nowruz program at LACMA.
Deadline for submission of conceptual design of the banner is September 15, 2012. Eligible submissions will visualize some aspect of Nowruz or Iranian heritage and must be the original work of the contestant. The final selected design must be completed and submitted in high-resolution, printable .eps, .ai or .pdf, built to size. The winning designer is also required to be available and open to adjusting the final design, per the guidelines to be provided.
The final selected design will incorporate the following phrasing:

- 5th Annual Nowruz; Celebrating Iranian New Year
- at LACMA
- March 17, 2013

Selection of the winner is discretionary. Farhang Foundation reserves the sole right to select the design submitted. Upon selection, the artist is required to sign a release for the selected design to be used by Farhang Foundation for the purposes stated above.

Farhang Foundation is a non-religious, non-political and not-for-profit foundation established in 2008 to celebrate and promote Iranian art and culture for the benefit of the community at large. The foundation supports a broad range of academic activities in Southern California by funding university programs, publications and conferences.
