Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Saturday that Iran's new space center, named after Imam Khomeini, will be used for launching the domestically made satellites into space.
This new space center which is 80 percent complete will be used for sending satellites made by Iran and other Muslim countries into space, Vahidi said.
The minister made the announcement as Iran is preparing to mark the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"The children of great Khomeini, the innovate and leading scientists and experts from the Aerospace Industry Organization of the Defense Ministry, will send into orbit the new generation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's satellites from this center," the minister explained.
As the first step, Vahidi said, the Tolou satellite will be launched into orbit from the Imam Khomeini space center.
