Iran's Guardian Council spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaii told a press conference on Saturday that the administration's decision to establish a committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Constitution is "certainly unconstitutional."
He said that the administration has put a wrong interpretation on the Article 113 of the Constitution.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has cited the Article 113 in his decision to establish the committee.
Article 113 states that after Leader, president is the highest official in the country. He is responsible for implementing the Constitution and acting as the head of the executive, except in matters directly concerned with the Leadership.
Ahmadinejad has also appointed Mohammad Reza Mirtajoddini as vice president for overseeing the implementation of the Constitution.
