Iran's diplomatic apparatus will seriously deal with counter-revolutionary meetings that Iranian opposition groups hold in certain Western countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says.
"The diplomatic apparatus will deal with counter-revolutionary meetings being held in certain Western countries," Mehmanparast said in an interview with the Young Journalist Club published on Wednesday.
He added, "We will not allow countries that claim they are friends of and have relations with Iran to carry out activities against our interests, and the Foreign Ministry will definitely convey its protest through political and diplomatic channels.
"The people of these countries must be aware that the officials they elect enter political games instead of serving their countries' interests and ignore the interests of their people."
Mehmanparast went on to say that opposition groups are experiencing so many internal problems that "they cannot unite even for five minutes."
"After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, many moves have been taken against the Islamic Republic of Iran by certain Western countries with the aim of overthrowing the sacred system," he stated.
He added, "The enemies of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran have taken wrong steps over the past 33 years with the aim of achieving their evil purposes and creating stumbling blocks in the way of its progress which have only harmed their interests."
