The 1st Fajr Fashion Festival, offering a variety of the latest Islamic-Iranian designs, opened on the evenening of Wednesday February 29, 2012 in Tehran's Hejab Hall in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

The variety of designs and the warm welcome of the designers show their serious attention to Iranian fashion design, Culture Minister Mohammad Hosseini said, hoping that the Ministry of Education and Iran's Ministry of Trade and Industry will collaborate in the project.
He also talked about the importance of hijab and said that the costumes need to meet the tastes of the users, especially the youth, or else the costumes from foreign cultures would be replacing them.
About 300 different designs are on display in the three sections of chador, scarf and manteau, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Friday.
Secretary of the festival Keivan Sohrabi, also present at the ceremony, said that users can see the new designs at the website of the festival.
The festival has been arranged to organize fashion in the country and maximize the use of the artistic potentials of the designers, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi had said at the press conference held last week.
Encouraging the ladies to put on nicer Islamic outfits and promoting hijab are among the goals of the festival, he had said.
The festival also aims to increase national pride, promote innovations in Islamic-Iranian designs and to raise the standards of the designs.
Several workshops are also arranged on the side section offering costume designs, textile designs and Iranian traditional designs.
The costumes on show will not be for sale but there is also an exhibition offering a variety of costumes for sale on the side section, the report added.
The Fajr Fashion Festival will be running until March 8 at the Hejab Hall located on Hejab St., off Keshavarz Blvd.
A permanent exhibit for Islamic Iranian fashion and costume design has also been set up in Tehran located on No.38, Nasser valley, off Vali-e Asr Ave.
