“Tuesday” is an NYU thesis film about a ten-year-old boy, Nima, who comes from a Persian immigrant family living in the United States. This story delves into the perspective of a child that is coping with the possibility of letting go of his childhood and accepting the reality of his mother’s absence as she battles cancer.
Nima Majidi: Lead / Male / Persian / 9 - 12 years
He's a very outspoken child. He loves soccer and wants to be a soccer player when he grows up. Nima has a very close relationship with his father but when they face hard times due to his mother's death, their worlds separate. He chooses to live in his childish world.
Yousef Majidi: Lead / Male / Persian / 35 - 45 years
Yousef is a very loving father. When his wife dies, he tries very hard to hide his emotions from his child thinking that if he showed his sadness it would hurt his son.
He has tried to be a tough parent in the past but the situation has changed now.
Nima's Mother: Supporting/ Female/ Persian/ 30-45 years
She suffers from cancer but doesn't want her son to know. She fears that her son is too young to understand the nature of what is happening to his mother. Therefore, she decides to hide her illness from him.
Sima Majidi: Supporting / Female / Persian/ 40 - 50 years
She hasn't been involved in her nephew's life before, but after her sister-in-law passes away, she feels the need to take the role of a mother in her nephew's life. She is a very smart and loving aunt who feels a bit guilty for not being involved in this child's life before.
