The wetlands around the Caspian Sea town of Sorkhroud in northern Iran host thousands of migratory birds in the winter. Some of these birds are caught by the local fisherman. The town's environmentalists buy the birds that have been caught alive, provide them shelter and then release them back into the wild. They also monitor the wetlands, which are protected areas, to ensure the birds enjoy a safe winter break!
