Iran finished at second place in the first Women's Kabaddi World Cup Championship in India on Sunday. The Indian clinched the title by beating Iran 25-19 at the Patlipura Sports Complex at Kankerbagh in Patna.
In a thrilling encounter, the Indian team held the upper hand throughout the match and led their Iranian counterparts 19-11 at half time.
Cheered on by the fans at the jam-packed stadium, the Indian women held out against a strong challenge by the Iranians in the second half.
Earlier in the day, India outclassed Japan 60-21 and Iran defeated Thailand 46-26 in the two semifinals that preceded the summit clash.
