These photos show a very busy Tehran Metro at the end of Iranian year 1390 (which ended on March 20th, 2012).
The Tehran Metro is a rapid transit system serving Tehran, the capital of Iran. The system consists of 4 operational lines. The construction on two additional lines started in 2007.
Ticket price is about $0.10 for each journey, regardless of distance. On all Tehran metro trains, the first and half of the second and last and half of the last but one carriages are reserved for women who do not wish to ride with men in the same car. However, women can still ride other cars freely.
Based on 2010 statistics, the Tehran Metro carries more than 2 million passengers a day.
