The users recently searching for Persian Gulf in Google Maps are led towards the position of the waterway, but the name of the Persian Gulf has been deleted from the map.

Hossein Alaei

Hossein Alaei in an interview with ISNA called Google company's action "illegal, politically-motivated and against the international norms", adding historical names should be called the same as they are written on maps and historical documentaries.

He added media should follow the same path and avoid distorting historical names.

The university lecturer noted the action can be pursued legally by Iran.

"It is not a righteous action that Persian Gulf neighboring countries or Google and some other international organizations change the name of the Persian Gulf which is a historical name. National Geography Institute has already conducted the same action which received Iranian nations' protest and the name was corrected to its actual form."

He stressed Iran should protest against the international organizations and open the door of talks with Google managing team and put psychological pressure on Google Company.

Alaei pointed out all Iranians should take measures in this regard and put pressure on Google search engine.
