The director of the 25th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) said on Saturday that about six million people visited the 11-day cultural event.
"The books mostly on religious issues were warmly welcomed at the book fair," Bahman Dorri stated at the closing ceremony of the book fair at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla.
Dorri also expressed his thanks over reporters and media which covered the news related to Tehran International Book Fair.
First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini and a number of cultural officials attended the ceremony.
Culture Minister Hosseini criticized the Iranian officials' disregards for the book fair in his speech at the closing ceremony.
He also expressed his thanks over publishers who attended the fair which he called as a great cultural economical and social event in Iran.
"We expected officials to visit the fair and despite all their responsibilities and duties," he added.
The best publishers of the year in various categories were announced at the end of the ceremony.
The sureh-Mehr Publishing Institute was selected as the best publisher of the year in the public section and Dar-al Hadith Cultural Institute became the best publisher of the year in the private section.
The Madrese Borhan Cultural Institute and Astan-e Qods Razavi Publications were named the best publishers of the year in the children's books section.
Over 2,400 Iranian publishers and 1600 publishers from 77 countries are offering their products at the fair this year.
Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla hosted the 25th Tehran International Book Fair from May 2 to 12.
