Another bus carrying Iranian students on a field trip to southern Iran has overturned on the road, wounding fourteen passengers.
Officials report that the bus was carrying 40 female high school students on a field trip that teaches students the history of the eight-year Iran-Iraq War. The annual trip, referred to as the "Rahian-e Noor" (sojourners of light) caravan, has led to many road accidents, especially in recent months.
In October, one caravan bus overturned, killing 26 students and injuring another 18.
Iranian officials announced that today's accident left 14 wounded: two school staff and 12 students. The report adds that two of the injured have been treated and released and two are in critical condition.
Several MPs have criticized the organization of the Rahian-e Noor caravan, which is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Basij Paramilitary forces. Parliament's education commission has stressed that the trips should not be a compulsory part of the high school program.
