IAAB Oral History Initiative To Launch at IAAB Conference

IAAB is pleased to announce the launch of The IAAB Oral History Initiative.

As the Iranian diaspora community continues to grow, deepens its roots in new homes, and welcomes recent arrivals from Iran, there are a plethora of stories from vast experiences that remain untold and unrecorded. IAAB is one of the main organizations in the Iranian diaspora that truly works across borders with communities around the world. In collaboration with local diaspora communities, IAAB will record and gather the stories of our diverse communities, providing an unprecedented archive of audio and visual oral histories.

The IAAB Oral History Initiative will officially launch at The IAAB Conference at UCLA October 13-14, 2012, and thus one of the main themes of the conference is storytelling. The conference will include performances by Ziba Shirazi, as well as a panel discussing the various oral, visual, and multimedia histories already being collected by Iranians in diaspora.

Participants at the Conference may choose to partake in The IAAB Oral History Initiative by responding to one of several prompts. IAAB will have a special booth set up to record the interviews through both audio and visual technologies.

Please stay tuned with more news on this exciting initiative.
