The Leader made the remarks during an address to thousands of people in the city of Esfarayen, in the northeastern Iranian province of North Khorasan, on Saturday.

Ayatollah Khamenei began an eight-day visit to North Khorasan Province on October 10.

In his speech, the Leader stated, "Today, the Iranian people, feeling strong and capable, are on the scene of a great confrontation, a battle of wills with the enemies of the country's progress. And what will be decisive in this battle of wills (is) the maintenance of strong will, insight, unity among the people, consensus among officials, and the people's sense of responsibility, and not becoming proud and not overlooking the enemy's plots."

The enemies have devised comprehensive plans and have made extensive efforts to prevent Iran from making progress, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, "Just as the enemies' plots have failed since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, at this juncture, all their plots and conspiracies will fall flat."

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said that the main objective of certain Western media outlets is to make the Iranian youth despair.

"The ill-wishers of the Iranian nation are well aware that vitality and vibrancy lead to redoubled activities and efforts. Therefore, they are seeking to extinguish this bright flame," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
