Iranian athlete Ali Hosseini has won the gold medal of the Men's -75-kilogram category of the powerlifting competition of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Hosseini managed to lift 225 kilograms at Excel on the fifth day of the games on Monday.
Mohamed Elelfat of Egypt won the silver with 219 kilograms and Peng Hu of China finished third with 213 kilograms.
Iran currently stands in the 16th place with seven medals -- four golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
Jalil Baqeri, Nader Moradi, and Mohsen Ka'edi are Iranian gold medalists. Mehrdad Karamzadeh and Rouhollah Rostami pocketed silver medals and Sareh Javanmardi took Iran's bronze.
The London Paralympics opened on August 29 and runs until September 9. The Paralympic Games is the world's second largest major international multi-sport event, involving athletes with a range of physical challenges.
Iran has sent 79 athletes, competing in 13 events, to the London Paralympics.
