The Tehran Symphony Orchestra plans to mark the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war by performing two concerts for peace.
The concerts entitled the Chants for Love and Peace will be held at Tehran's Vahdat Hall on September 20 and 21, conductor Nader Mortezapur said during a press conference on Sunday.
The orchestra will perform "Love Harvest Season", whose music and lyrics have been composed by Iranian surgeon/musician Shahriar Kohanzad who is also scheduled to sing the piece in Persian and English.
"Fortunately, I was lucky enough to work as a physician in the Mehran and Sumar warzones for 27 months," Kohanzad said during the press conference.
"With all my heart, I saw and realized in those days the epic efforts that were being made. Thus, I am prouder of my nationality than of any other position," he added.
Kohanzad said that he was inspired by his memory of an Iranian soldier to compose "Love Harvest Season".
"A young soldier named Kambiz died in my arms during the Operation Karbal 6. I took inspiration from the memory of his death to compose the music and lyrics for 'Love Harvest Season'," he said.
"I think that nothing can describe a message better than music," he added.
