The southeastern city of Saravan, in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, was once again hit by a quake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale Wednesday morning. According to seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 09:23 hours local time (0453 GMT).
The quake was epicentered in an area located at 28.08 degrees latitude and 62.59 degrees longitude. There is no report of any damage caused by the quake.
A 7.5 eight Richter magnitude earthquake jolted Sistan va Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, on Tuesday evening. According to ISNA, one woman was killed and 12 others were injured as a result of the quake.
Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Red Crescent Society for rescue operations Mahmoud Mozaffar said 5 teams were sent to quake-hit Gosht district between Khash and Saravan cities to assess the possible level of damage.
The earthquake has been unprecedented in the country, he said, adding the five teams were sent from Red Crescent teams of Sistan va Baluchestan, Kerman and Hormuzgan to the quake-stricken area from sea and land.
