Iranian authorities have arrested a man on charges of spying for Israel. Iran's semiofficial Mehr news agency reported on August 5 that the unidentified man had allegedly passed on intelligence to a security officer at the Israeli Embassy in Thailand.
The report said the man was arrested during his second trip in Iran's southwestern Kerman Province, where he was allegedly gathering data on mines in the area.
Authorities did not reveal when the man was detained.
The report said he would face trial on charges of espionage.
Under Iranian law, espionage is punishable by death.
Iranian authorities have periodically arrest people accused of spying for Israel, Tehran's archrival.
