Iran's President Hassan Rohani says Tehran is ready to engage in "serious negotiations" with Western nations over the country's disputed nuclear program. Rohani was speaking in Tehran on August 6 in his first news conference since officially taking office.

Rohani said the nuclear dispute could be resolved if "all side have the political will."
He also said "constructive interaction" could lead to a "win-win" situation.
The newly elected president said the United States had so far sent "mixed signals" to Tehran and that recent sanctions against Iran were counterproductive.
Rohani said diplomacy, not threats of further sanctions, would resolve the deadlock in talks.
Rohani said the Iranian people had shown through the ballot box that they want "dignified interaction with the world."
