Boston, MA - Spirit of Iranian Noted Achievers (SINA) announced today (August 5th) its 2013 outstanding achievers and Hall of Fame inductees. The honorees will be recognized during the international SINA Day conference to be held Oct. 12 at the Harvard University Science Center.
SINA, launched by a Boston-based group of scholars and students, seeks to formally recognize and honor Iranians for their outstanding contributions in the Arts, Business & Leadership, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine, Philanthropy and Science. Award recipients and Hall of Fame inductees are selected by SINA’s student team, who represent Boston-based institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Boston University and Northeastern. The achievement award is in recognition of contributions made in a particular category while the Hall of Fame honor is for lifetime accomplishments.
This year’s four honorees, each of whom will receive a $10,000 prize from SINA, are, in alphabetical order:
Awards may not be given in each category every year.
“Iranians have been contributing to all aspects of civilization for well over 2,500 years, and I am honored to become a member of SINA and to help to continue this trend and contribute as a citizen of our world,” said Peyman.
The eight Hall of Fame entrants who are honored for lifetime achievements are, again in alphabetical order:
”It is an honor to help bridge the past with the future students who comprise SINA, and with such distinguished Iranian scholars,” said Yarshater. “I also am very pleased to be inducted into the SINA Hall of Fame with this class and to be part of a process to energize this new generation of Iranian students and scholars,” he added.
SINA’s goal is to draw global attention to the ongoing contributions of prominent Iranians through activities such as the First Annual SINA International Conference honoring Iranian scholars with outstanding achievement awards. The event’s theme is “The Best is Yet to Come”.
YAS Capital Partners Foundation is sponsoring the Oct. 12 SINA Day as part of the YAS Foundation focus on informing the public about the far-reaching achievements and longstanding traditions of the Persian/Iranian global citizen. “SINA could not be more pleased and honored with the 2013 outstanding achievers and lifelong contributors to world civilization and society, and ‘The Best is Yet to Come’ will be a wonderful event,” said Rouzbeh Yassini, CEO of YAS Capital Partners.
ABOUT SINA: The organization’s name SINA doubles as an allusion to Ibn Sina (known to the Latin West as Avicenna), the visionary Persian polymath whose vast contributions to medieval intellectual history are virtually unparalleled. Ibn Sina epitomizes the spirit that we aim to celebrate and promote at SINA. More information about SINA and the SINA International Conference can be found at www.sinairan.org.
