The Omid Foundations (Empowering disadvantaged young women in Iran ) consist of three registered charities, which were established by Marjaneh Halati, a London-based social psychologist and psychotherapist. It is her unique vision and passion that is the driving force behind their growth.
The Omid-e-Mehr Foundation (established in 2004 in Iran) is the main operating entity in Tehran. Omid Foundation USA (established in 2008 in the US) is responsible for awareness and fundraising in North America. Omid Foundation (established in 2006 in the UK) is responsible for awareness and fundraising in the rest of the world.

Third annual fundraiser for DC Chapter
On Sunday, November 10th, the elegant and historic Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland served as the venue for the Third Annual Fundraiser for the Omid Foundations Washington DC Area Chapter.
The program featuring Marjaneh Halati, Founder of Omid Foundations andSanam Naraghi Anderlini, Co-Founder of International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN). Board Director Gohar Farahani mediated this interactive presentation where she presented a series of topics for the speakers to reflect on, in order to raise awareness about our cause. This was followed by a question and answer session in which the highly participative audience asked many insightful questions.
The event raised a fantastic $60,000 and we were encouraged by the superb feedback from our supporters with many promises of help for the future. This successful program received help from more than 40 volunteers who worked in different roles and capacities to make the event run smoothly and enjoyably for our guests. Fundraising in LA
On Thursday, November 14th, long-time supporter Afreh Khazaee and the Directors of Omid Foundation USA hosted a fairly-tale dinner at Afreh's beautiful home in Los Angeles. Afreh had turned her garden into a fantasy of lights and flowers. The wonderful weather made the evening unforgettable. Many of OMID's long-time supporters were joined by a new group of new supporters who had come to learn more about the work of OMID. Marjaneh Halati talked about about OMID's achievement in 2012/13 and its plans for the coming year. She described at length the successful co-operation of OMID with the Harvard Graduate School of Education for the development of our new gender empowerment curriculum and the new arrangement with the Virtis Trauma Center in Sacramento, through which OMID's therapy staff will learn about the latest development on trauma therapy. Over $50,000 was raised. We areforever indebted to Afreh for organizing such a magical evening which all the guests will remember for a long time. (See more here)
Boston Chapter raise over $50,000
On Wednesday, November 20th, the elegant and historic Henderson House in Weston, Massachusetts served as the venue for the Third Annual Fundraiser for the Omid Foundations USA - Boston Chapter.
Board Director Shifteh Veyssihad formed a formidable committee to organize this reception. The glamorous setting of Henderson House, the exquisite food, dance performances, and piano music made for a memorable evening. The audience was a mixture of old time OMID supporters and a new faces who had come to find out about OMID. The guest speaker was Dr. Haleh Esfandiari, Director of the Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center, who spoke about the evolving role of women in Iranian society. This was followed with remarks byMarjaneh Halati, who used her experiences at OMID as the context for describing the social issues that marginalized young women face in today's Iran. She also described the philosophy and thinking behind the Omid Program, for the benefit of audience members who did not have an in-depth familiarity with OMID. Over $50,000 was raised.
