Mortazavi is suing Rabii and Mahjoub for "libel and defamation" and, according to Fars, he has filed the suit in the court of public servants.

According to the filed suit, Ali Rabii and Alireza Mahjoub have spoken of the sale and transfer of 138 companies in the Social Security Fund and 170 trillion rials in financial fraud, bribes paid to the national broadcasting Seda va Sima and payments to the family of one of the detainees alleged to have died under torture in Kahrizak Prison, for which Mortazavi is the prime suspect.

Mortazavi's lawyer has referred to these instances as libel and defamation and denied the veracity of the accusations.

Saeed Mortazavi, who was dismissed from his position as the prosecutor of Tehran after the news leaked out about the detainee deaths at Kahrizak, was consistently supported by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former Iranian president, and later was appointed as the head of the Social Security Fund against the angry protests of Parliament.

Audit chief dismisses Mortazavi's talk of suing officials

The head of Iranian Parliament's Investigations and Auditing Committee has dismissed Saeed Mortazavi's statements about suing government officials for probing into allegations of corruption against him.

Mortazavi is under investigation for allegedly paying off officials and misusing public funds when he headed the Social Security Fund.

Nader Qazipour, an Iranian MP and member of the Investigations and Auditing Committee, said the Social Security Fund is under investigation by order of Parliament and Mr. Mortazavi cannot start legal action against Parliament.

Saeed Mortazavi denies all allegations against him and has threatened to expose official documents and cause a scandal.
