Iranian Deputy Oil Minister says that the Ministry has plans to store gas from South Pars field in Iranian independent storage facilities.
Javad Owji has unveiled Iranian gas export contracts, and said that within two years, Iranian gas export will be quadrupled.
He also pointed to providing logistic support for new gas export contracts as the real motivation for developing gas storage facilities, and said that within 3 years, Iran's gas extraction would be doubled and would reach 1.280bm3 from the current 640Mm3.
Iranian Deputy Oil Minister also said that the Ministry has plans to store 110 to 120Mm3 gas per day, and asserted that with Iranian gas export to Pakistan launched in 2014, and to Iraq in 2013, the development of storage facilities seems a necessity.
He also pointed to the future rise in gas exports from current 30Mm3 to 120Mm3 through new gas export contracts, and added that gas export would be quadrupled.
The Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company also provided comments on the limitations upon the gas extractions from shared fields such as South Pars in hot seasons and summer, saying that with new storage facilities, gas extracts from shared fields with Qatar and storing it on storage facilities would be improved.
