The first introduction to the Persian language Persiska för nybörjare (“Persian for Beginners”) has been published in Swedish.

Persiska för nybörjare is a step-by-step introduction to written and spoken Persian, which enables students to speak, read, and write the language with ease. It features 23 chapters, which are ideal for both classroom use and self-study. Each chapter includes dialogues, translation exercises, and easy-to-follow discussions of grammar. The book also comes with cultural information, a brief comparison of Persian and Swedish, and includes a basic vocabulary of more than three thousand words. No prior knowledge of the language is required. The three audio CDs features dialogues and texts spoken by native speakers.

The author Ashk Dahlen has taught Persian for over a decade at the universities of Uppsala, Stockholm and Oslo. He received his PhD in Iranian Languages from Uppsala University in 2002 and has translated a number of Persian classics into Swedish.
