Iranian lawyer and human rights activist Nasrin Sotoudeh has been returned to Evin Prison after she was granted a furlough on Saturday, her first in more than two years behind bars.

Kaleme reports that Sotoudeh was summoned back to prison on Monday night to the great distress of her two children.

Sotoudeh is serving a six-year sentence because of her connection with the Defenders of Human Rights Centre, an NGO deemed anti-regime by the establishment, and she has been in jail since September of 2010. She has gone on several hunger strikes to protest the violation of her rights as a prisoner and the mistreatment of her family.

Sotoudeh's husband, Reza Khandan, reports that the family was assured that the furlough would be longer.

Sotoudeh is the winner of Europe's Sakharov human rights prize for 2012.
