Iran earned a vital victory over France in Pool C of the FIVB Boys' U19 World Championship on Sunday. The Iranian boys defeated France in three straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-15) in Tijuana, Mexico.
Iran will play Rwanda on Tuesday.
"We dedicate this victory to the fathers and mothers of our players, who have not seen their sons for fifteen days, something it is not normal in the Iranian culture," Iran coach Iraj Mozaffari said in the post match news conference.
"France's receptions were not good since its libero was absent due to injury," he added.
After winning the 2007 edition of the Boys' U19, Iran suffered a painful five-set defeat to the hands of Serbia in the gold medal match of 2009 at Palazzo del Turismo in Jesolo, Italy. They also won a silver medal in Cairo in 2001 and picked the bronze in 2003 in Thailand.
