2013 NexGen Leadership Circle
August 2-4, 2013
Harvard Kennedy School
July 22, 2013, Washington, D.C. - The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans is proud to announce that the first NexGen Leadership Conference (NLC) will take place on August 2-4, 2013 at the Harvard Kennedy School.
The NexGen Leadership Conference is a 2-day retreat weaving together tangible professional and leadership development skills with the essential space to reflect on the next generation’s role in leading the Iranian American community. The goal is for every participant to leave the NLC with new skills, an expanded network, and a greater awareness of his/her potential as a talented professional and brilliant leader. The conference also features keynote speakers Ali Rowghani, Chief Operating Officer for Twitter, Inc., and Sanam Akhlagh, Founder of Pardis for Children, Inc.
Sherry Hakimi and Nellie Kargar, Co-Chairs of the NexGen Leadership Conference, remarked:
“We designed this conference in order to provide the future leaders of our community with an opportunity to gain necessary tools for success. We feel that early-to-mid-career Iranian Americans are not being catered to, and we seek to fill that gap in our community. We are very excited for this diverse group of participants to meet and learn from each other.”
Attendees for the conference are early- to mid-career level (exceptional graduate students and professionals age 25-40) Iranian American leaders who will gain new skills, an expanded network, and a greater awareness of their potential as talented professionals and brilliant leaders.
The NLC features workshops and roundtable discussions led by Harvard-affiliated faculty and instructors on topics such as managing change, adaptive leadership, optimizing managerial flow, and more. The curriculum for this year’s conference was designed in conjunction with the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University.
